Mis-Understood
Sculpture: Ceramic, Wood, Rubber, Metal on Ceramic, Iron, Soft (Yarn, Cotton, Fabric), Wood, Other. Size: 56 W x 22 H x 8 in
According to National Geographic, recently unearthed tablets discovered on the Plain of Huran, in Turkey, indicate conclusively that the Ark we are all so familiar with, is not in fact the first ark that Noah built.
As we already know, Noah was 500 years old when God came to him and told Noah to begin constructing the Ark. By all accounts Noah started searching for the necessary materials almost immediately, but we now also know that Noah, given his advanced age, also suffered from severe hearing loss in both ears. Consequently when God decreed that Noah gather two of every animal to fill the ship, Noah misunderstood those instructions, and instead brought together two and every kind of TWO to fulfill God’s command.
When God pointed out Noah’s mistake, the poor man was sore afraid, but God assured Noah that everyone makes mistakes and that he simply needed to begin again. Fortunately Noah was able to use the “Miss-Understood’s” hull and upper decks and was eventually retrofit the interior to accommodate living animals.
The “Misunderstood” measures a full 9 foot, 3 inches when fully extended. It is also 22 inches high and 8 inches wide together.
It features a handcrafted rudder, working hoist and elevator
Each “2” is made from ceramic and there is also one “4” included, because you can’t put that many twos together without eventually ending up with at least one “4”.
Removable parts include a movable ladder, a host of paint and tar cans and details like miniature capstans and full metal railing. The Ark itself if made from reclaimed barn wood and all the shudders are hand-carved and fired clay.
